A 37-year-old man in India received 55 stitches after he was allegedly bitten on his genitals by his sister-in-law during a family dispute.

Indian news site India Today reported that the incident happened on Oct 23 in Kanpur, a city in India.

The man, identified as Rajneesh, was reportedly involved in an argument with his nephew.

During the altercation, he beat up the boy, according to local news reports.

The child later told his mother, Gayatri, about the incident, prompting her to confront Rajneesh.

Rajneesh reportedly took off his clothes in anger during the confrontation, after which his sister-in-law allegedly pushed him to the ground and bit his genitals, leaving him seriously injured.

Rajneesh’s father and a neighbour heard his cries of pain and rushed him to the community health centre to treat his wounds.

Doctors subsequently referred him to a hospital where he received further treatment.

He reportedly received 55 stitches for his injuries. It is unclear if all 55 stitches were for injuries to his genital area.

After the incident, Rajneesh’s wife, Suman, filed a police report against Gayatri and her husband.

Police investigations are ongoing.
