A cyclist was left sprawling on the road after losing control and tumbling off his bicycle, appearing to land on his head.

A 14-second clip of the incident was shared on the @sgfollowsall Instagram page on Oct 23, with the in-screen caption reading, “GWS (get well soon) bro”.

The video shows the cyclist, who isn’t wearing a helmet, accelerating on the road alongside a personal mobility device.

As the cyclist pedals harder, he loses his balance before tumbling to the ground and appearing to land on his head.

The cyclist is seen lying on the road with one hand covering his face as the video ends.

## Netizens criticise cyclist’s recklessness

The Instagram post has garnered over over 280,000 views and 550 comments

Most netizens had little sympathy for the cyclist, with many criticising his recklessness and saying he got what he deserved.

“If he can take the speed, he can take the fall,” said a netizen.

There were those who, while not excusing the cyclist’s behaviour, hoped he was not seriously injured.

“A bit silly to ride without a helmet, especially at high speed. Hope he’s OK,” said an Instagram user.

“Guys, although (it’s) his fault, I think he hits his head damn hard, hope he’s okay right now,” another said.

Others remarked that the he was lucky there were no vehicles behind him when he fell.

“Certainly you deserved it, sorry to say. But you’re lucky no big heavy vehicle behind — if not sayonara (goodbye in Japanese). Wanna race with your own life, really worth it?” asked a netizen.

Several netizens questioned the authenticity of the video, likely referencing the caption accompanying the video, which read, “Real or AI?”

While the video did not indicate where the incident occurred, one commenter suggested it was at Keppel Viaduct in the direction of Pasir Panjang. Another netizen, however, pointed out that it happened at Seletar.

Stomp has reached out to the police for comment.
