A video of two men who appear to be engaged in a playful lightsaber face-off in Yishun has earned praise and support from netizens, including many who say they are nearby residents.

The TikTok account @bennypeps1 uploaded a 20-second video of the Star Wars-inspired parry on Oct 17.

Two men can be seen swinging red lightsabers at each other while dodging each other’s blows. The man in the longer sleeved shirt is holding two, while the other is holding one.

The video is cheekily captioned: “Sometimes I do question myself is Yishun a real place to live in.”

Speaking to Stomp, 32-year-old Benny Peps — who posted the video — said that he witnessed the two men engaged in the lightsaber match in Chong Pang City on Oct 16, at around 10.40pm.

Peps, who works as a personal bodyguard, had just finished working out at a gym nearby and was on his way home.

“So tired, so zoned out, but when I saw them I got so happy,” Peps said, knowing that he had to record the “beautiful moment”.

He showed the video of the playful fight to his children later at night, who are Star Wars fans.

“My kids ended up asking if they can join them instead next time,” shared Peps.

While he did not interact with the men when he saw them, Peps said they have since followed each other online after he posted his TikTok video.

“The guys are welcoming, they say next time can just bring my kids over, they can accommodate and lend them the lightsaber.”

## ‘No other estate like Yishun’: Netizens show support

Peps’ video has since garnered 103,600 views, 4,700 likes and 200 comments — many of which appeared to be from fellow Yishun residents who were proud of their neighbourhood.

“Yishunite here for 30+ years. It’s the best place to be... We are more laid back than any other estate,” wrote one.

“It’s the best place to live 😂. All the bad press is just a conspiracy to gate keep the area. 😂😂” joked another commenter.

There were many who, liked Pep’s children, also wanted to join in the fun. “I also have these sabre lights. I stay nearby only,” shared one user.

Naturally, there were many references to the Star Wars franchise.

“Who’s the Padawan? Or are they Inquisitor in training?” one commenter asked.

Another shared their theory: “This is actually a secret Jedi training facility.”
