14-year-old girl among 80 suspected drug offenders arrested

Eighty drug offenders, including a 14-year-old girl, were arrested during a five-day islandwide operation from Feb 10 to 14.

A total of about 916g of heroin, 426g of Ice or methamphetamine, 82g of cannabis and 6g of ketamine were seized, said the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a statement on Feb 14.

The bureau also seized 234 Ecstasy tablets and 38 Erimin-5 tablets. Investigations into all suspects are ongoing.

In one of the operation's raids, CNB officers found about 453g of heroin, 132g of Ice, 10g of cannabis and five Erimin-5 tablets in a residential unit near Chin Swee Road on Feb 11. A 61-year-old Singaporean man was arrested for suspected drug trafficking.

Cash in various currencies were also recovered from the same unit, including $6,097.30, RM75, 15,000 rupiah and 20,000 Vietnamese dong (S$22, S$1.25 and S$1.05 respectively).

In a separate raid at a residential block in Rivervale Crescent on Feb 11, officers found about 85g of Ice, 6g of ketamine, 232 Ecstasy tablets, 14 Erimin-5 tablets and cash amounting to $1,044.

A 39-year-old Singaporean man was arrested for suspected drug trafficking.

On Feb 13, officers raided a residential unit in Tampines and arrested a 28-year-old Singaporean man after recovering drug paraphernalia and plant parts believed to be from a cannabis plant.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, it is an offence for a person to have in their possession any part of a cannabis plant.

A person found guilty of possession of cannabis where the quantity is less than 330g may face a jail term of up to 10 years, a $20,000 fine, or both.
