# Stomper concerned about neighbourhood massage parlours allegedly offering sexual services: ‘As convenient as finding a 7-Eleven’

Welcome to Stomping Ground — a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.

After reading a news report about massage parlours offering sexual services, a Stomper decided to write an open letter expressing her concern regarding the growing phenomenon.

The news reminded her of her own experience discovering chat groups offering such services, back when she tried to join a ride-sharing group on Telegram.

“In order to post in the chat groups, I had to join certain Telegram channels first. At the time, I didn’t think much of it and didn’t realise what these groups were actually facilitating,” explained the Stomper.

She only realised the horror sometime later when she learnt that her own husband had been searching for sexual services through these platforms, after she found links leading directly to Telegram groups.

To make matters worse, a friend also shared that her husband had been using similar Telegram groups to seek sexual services and had paid for at least seven to eight women in just their first year of marriage.

Grasping the gravity of the situation, the Stomper commented: “This is no longer something that seems hidden or difficult to access. It is being circulated openly on platforms that people can easily come across.”

## Telegram groups openly share locations and contacts for illicit services

Wanting to investigate further, the Stomper took a look through the Telegram groups herself.

She claimed to have discovered more than 20 channels, with one boasting over 25,000 subscribers from allegedly promoting sexual services disguised as massage services.

“What is particularly concerning is how openly these services appear to be advertised and how affordable they seem to be, with prices reportedly ranging from $50 to $100 for a full package,” noted the Stomper.

Stomp browsed through some of the channels as well, and observed that they often post about female masseuses, with photos of the women clad in outfits baring their skin and cleavage.

The posts detailed the services these women offer, which tend to include different massages, with an emphasis on them being done in “private” spaces or sessions.

Some women boasted specialising in ‘nuru massage’, reportedly a form of sensual massage originating from Japan.

Longer posts listed the names of different spas and massage parlours in neighbourhoods across Singapore, along with the Telegram handles of specific individuals to contact at these locations, possibly to request specific services.

The Stomper added: “This raises questions about whether sufficient enforcement and monitoring are being carried out, and whether more should be done to address businesses that operate outside the boundaries of legitimate massage services.

“What bothers me most is how easily accessible and openly circulated this information has become. These groups don’t just advertise the services. They openly share the locations of massage parlours, the individuals to look for and where to find them in different neighbourhoods.

“We’re talking about practically every part of Singapore — North, South, East and West. It is quite alarming to realise how widespread these networks appear to be, and how easily someone can find these services within their own neighbourhood.”

## Stomper concerned about impact on marriages and families

Harking back to her personal experience, the Stomper articulated her concern about the wider impact such services have on the community.

“I am concerned about the impact these establishments may have on marriages, relationships, and families,” she stated. “While I am certainly not speaking on behalf of all men, it is troubling to see how easily some individuals may be tempted by the availability and accessibility of such services, potentially putting their marriages, trust and family stability at risk.

“It’s become frighteningly easy. A husband can simply tell his wife, ‘I’m heading to the coffeeshop for a coffee,’ but in reality, he could just as easily be heading off for a quick 30-minute to 1-hour sexual service. That’s how accessible these services have become. There is barely any effort involved, no elaborate planning, and seemingly no difficulty finding one nearby. As convenient as finding a 7-Eleven.”

Beyond the damage to adult relationships and family structures, she thought about the way such massage parlours could shape the neighbourhoods and evironments in which children grow up.

The Stomper emphasised: “Children deserve to grow up in communities where businesses operate responsibly and where family-friendly values are respected.”

## Authorities urged to investigate massage establishments

Stressing that she is not targeting women of any particular nationality, the Stomper reiterated that she is merely questioning whether the relevant authorities are doing enough to investigate and address any unlawful practices.

“I urge the relevant authorities to look more closely into these establishments, strengthen enforcement where necessary, and provide clearer channels for members of the public to report suspected illegal activities.

“If these businesses are operating within the law, that should be established transparently. If they are not, appropriate action should be taken,” she said.

At the end of it all, the Stomper states that there is nothing wrong in residents asking about what is being done to protect “family well-being, public order and safe residential communities”.

She concluded: “This is not simply an issue about massage parlours. It is about accountability, the protection of families, the well-being of our children and the kind of society we want Singapore to be.”
