# Mum despairs over N-Level son, 32, who can't find life partner even after spending $10k

Welcome to Stomping Ground – a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.

Yet another man has had no luck when it comes to love.

So much so that his mother has taken to Stomp to share her frustration with his experiences in the dating market.

Stomper Mary said her son is a 32-year-old N-Levels graduate who currently works as a hotel supervisor. The family is Catholic and he is of mixed heritage (Eurasian/Chinese/Indian).

Mary describes her son as "caring, helpful, reliable, hardworking and warm-hearted."

She said: "He is quiet at first but can be talkative after awhile. He has a great personality and is not into pubs or drinking. He does housework sometimes but can be a bit lazy."

"He started looking for someone when he was around 25 years old using dating apps. When there was no success, he went to dating agencies."

However, Mary's son has experienced "incredibly frustrating and disheartening experiences" with these agencies despite having spent $10,000 to date.

The Stomper added: "First he went to Fabrique, then to Dating Moments, then to GaiGai, then to lovestruck. After one of his memberships came to an end, the agency called to offer a small package even though he was still paying monthly fees.

"It’s unfortunate that despite the high membership fees and initial promises, these agencies have not been able to deliver on their commitments.

"I think the biggest problem is that these agencies cater more to people who are highly educated. Most of their demographics are university graduates. The membership is very expensive and not what your average person can afford.

"If there is a company that caters to people who are N-Level or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) graduates, my son would definitely have found someone by now.

"Jobs and salary play a part too as people tend to look for status.

"Even on dating apps like Tinder and Coffee Meets Bagel, most of the ladies are graduates who are looking for fellow graduates.

"My son is financially stable and ready to take on the responsibilities of marriage and family. It’s also unfortunate that some people may overlook his qualities due to his educational background. Love and compatibility should go beyond just academic achievements.

"There are lots of foreigners in Singapore, I don’t mind him finding love with a foreigner. I do hope some of these agencies cater to those who are less educated and working in average jobs.

"They too can help with the government's call for more babies if only the agencies can find them the right person, not just take their money and shake legs."

Mary was inspired to share her son's story after reading an earlier article about Stomper Ng, who has not been able to find a life partner despite spending $10,000 on dating agencies.

Stomp helped Ng to secure a date on Feb 23, but things did not work out.

Mary said: "There are many like Stomper Ng and my son who are looking for love and marriage.

"Every mother's wish is to see their children married. And that's my wish for him: to find love and marriage.

"He's only looking for a simple, caring and family-oriented lady to journey the rest of their lives together. Her job and education are not important. With this article, I hope my son can find someone."
