Yishun canal turned 'unnatural yet attractive' blue -- then green: NEA investigating
The National Environment Agency (NEA) is investigating after the water in the canal at Yishun Close turned an "unnatural" blue one day and green on another.
Stomper Sean shared photos of the blue waterway taken on Aug 16.
He said: "A discharge of chemical substance directly into the canal that flows toward the sea was sighted next to Yishun Close.
"The discharge caused the entire stream of water in the canal to turn an unnatural blue colour yet an attractive sight.
"The discolouration appeared to spread along the flow of the canal, indicating a continuous or recent release."

Stomp understands the discolouration was no longer seen about two days later.
On Aug 26, Nee Soon GRC MP Jackson Lam posted photos of the canal with unnaturally green water.
He wrote that he has checked with NEA, who is looking into the matter.
"Through surveillance and inspections, NEA officers have traced the affected canal and identified a potential source of the discolouration," he added.
Investigations are ongoing.
