A couple of youths were caught on camera riding a bicycle and an e-bike while following closely behind a trailer truck along West Coast Highway on Oct 31.

Stomper Putry, who shared the video with Stomp, said the incident took place at about 9.50pm.

"I want to share what's happening," said the Stomper. "Where are all the officers and Traffic Police?

"These youngsters were not in proper gear and were even chasing a trailer truck just to record a video.

"It's too much."

She added that although cycling is allowed along the West Coast Highway as it is not an expressway, the group was riding without protective equipment or lights.

In the video, neither of them is wearing a helmet.

The youth on the bicycle is seen cycling one-handed while recording with a phone in his right hand, riding uncomfortably close to the rear of the truck.

"We almost hit one of them after I stopped recording," the Stomper said.

"One of them was dressed all in black and had no rear light or anything."

This is not the first time a cyclist has been caught riding recklessly and prompting concerns from other motorists about road safety.

In March, a young cyclist was seen tailing behind a lorry along Serangoon Road. He was also not wearing a helmet or protective riding gear.

According to the Land Transport Authority, all cyclists must:

  • Wear a helmet when cycling on roads
  • Always ride as close as predictable to the far left of roads, and allow traffic to overtake you safely.
