Woodlands resident awakened by youths creating ruckus at 3am: Town council working with police
Four youths were seen making a din at Block 552 Woodlands Drive 44 during wee hours of the night.
Facebook user Chen WL posted photos and videos of the group chatting and laughing loudly at the void deck. They can also be seen standing on a table.
In a Dec 25 post which a reader alerted Stomp to, Chan said he was awakened by loud music and shouts at 3am. The ruckus also caused his grandson to wake up and start crying.
He wrote: "Looked out and saw four teens fooling around, shouting and jumping around, not caring it's 3am and they're disturbing residents' sleep.
"Not the first time seeing this group. Sometimes they stay for hours, sometimes they drink at other places and come by to stay for an hour and vomit here before leaving.
"But every time they come, they come shouting and laughing loudly, and always at 3-4am. Had enough so this time decided to go lower floor to take clearer videos of them.
"I'm not saying cannot lepak and have fun, but doing it at 3am, when most normal Singaporeans are sleeping is definitely inconsiderate."
The Facebook user, who is in his 50s, also explained why he did not approach the youths: "One punch from each of them, or even stabbing (read recent news), and I'll die there.
"I'm not saying need to be quiet like Lim Chu Kang cemetery. But at least not blast music and shouting."
In response to a Stomp query, a spokeswoman for Sembawang Town Council said it takes residents' concerns seriously, including those involving disturbances and public nuisance.
She added: "We are aware of the Facebook post about the situation at Block 552 Woodlands Drive 44.
"Our team is working closely with relevant authorities, such as the Singapore Police Force, to ensure that steps are taken to maintain a peaceful living environment for everyone.
"Meanwhile, we encourage residents who encounter such disturbances to contact the police immediately for assistance."
