# Police collaborate with Shopee to create game in its app to educate shoppers, fight e-commerce scams

In the first half of this year, 2,267 cases of e-commerce scams were reported with losses of at least $8.3 million. This is up from $5.8 million for the whole of last year.

To educate online shoppers and fight e-commerce scams, Clementi Police Division and Shopee have collaborated to create an in-app game called Spot The Signs, Stop The Crimes.

It was developed with Shopee Prizes and launched by police last month.

In the game, shoppers answer questions on a variety of common scams in Singapore and are rewarded with Shopee coins, vouchers and other prizes.

"The game helps to amplify police’s anti-scam messages to a wider audience, including Shopee’s ecosystem of users, and make them more resistant to being scammed online," said police.

Last year, police worked with Shopee to leverage its logistics and delivery network to distribute over 200,000 anti-scam pamphlets together with its deliveries to Shopee customers.
