It was an error.

Stomp has found out why a customer was charged a "whopping" $1.20 takeaway fee at a Woodlands foodcourt.

Stomper PKJ had gone to the Food Library western food stall in the Cantine Corner by Kopitiam foodcourt at Admiralty Place on Sept 21 and ordered four fried chicken wings at $1.50 each to take away.

She was surprised when she was charged a "whopping" $1.20 takeaway fee in addition to the $6 wings.

"Fifty cents is still acceptable, but a whopping $1.20 is practically daylight robbery," said the Stomper, who shared a photo of the receipt from the western food stall.

On Sept 26, Stomp visited the stall in the Admiralty Place foodcourt and ordered the $6 chicken sausage spaghetti to take away.

The takeaway fee was 30 cents.

Stomp then returned to the stall and ordered two chicken wings to take away.

The takeaway fee was again 30 cents.

Stomp showed the stall's cashier the photo of the Stomper's receipt and asked why it showed the takeaway fee as $1.20.

Already aware of the Stomp report, the cashier said the $1.20 takeaway fee was an error.

The cashier explained that on the day the Stomper visited the stall, the person working there was inexperienced and keyed the numbers incorrectly into the machine.

As the Stomper had ordered four wings, the person mistakenly multiplied the takeaway fee by four, which was how 30 cents became $1.20.

The cashier said the stall had been trying to find out how to contact the Stomper to clarify the matter and return the sum she was wrongly charged.

Stomp has informed the Stomper of the error.
