Videos and photos: Fire breaks out at Jurong Island oil refinery

A fire broke out at a oil refinery on Jurong Island this morning (Jun 13).

Stompers Apid, Fook Choy, Roy, Ivan and Marcus sent in photos and videos of the scene.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force's Facebook post, it was alerted to the incident at 9.50am at 1 Merlimau Road, where oil refinery Singapore Refining Company is located.

"Upon the sounding of the fire alarm, the company's in-house emergency response team was immediately activated. Water monitors and several large capacity fire extinguishers were deployed to mitigate the fire.

"At about 11.10 am, the fire which occurred within a crude distillation unit was extinguished by SCDF and the company in-house emergency response team using ground monitors and several handheld jets.

"SCDF is currently carrying out foaming operations. There are no casualties reported."
