Two cyclists go missing in Mandai Forest, rescued by police and Gurkhas
A pair of cyclists who lost their way and went missing in Mandai Forest on Dec 28 were rescued within four hours.
The police were informed about the incident at around 1.04pm, they shared in a Facebook post on the same day.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division, Jurong Division and Gurkha Contingent were swiftly deployed to locate the missing cyclists, who were on their mountain bikes.
The missing cyclists were subsequently located and brought to safety by the police at about 4.10pm. They were unhurt.
In their post, the police advised members of the public to stay on designated trails while cycling or trekking for their own safety.
In the comments section, netizens praised the authorities for their efficiency and a job well done. However, some also criticised the cyclists for "wasting police resources".
A similar incident occurred earlier this year in Feburary when two hikers went missing in the forested area near Merryn Road, off Whitley Road.
The duo was found after an hour-long search by police officers and the Gurkha contingent.
