Update on April 29:

Stomper 'feels bad' after his open letter causes Yishun resident to lose mulberry trees

Original article:

A man has a bone to pick with a Yishun resident who planted mulberry trees outside his home.

Stomper Someone acknowledged the beauty of the greenery, but took issue with the '24-hour CCTV' and 'No Stealing' signs displayed at the tree.

The Stomper, a gardening enthusiast, wrote an open letter to the resident:

"To the owner of these mulberry trees staying at Block 200+,

"The town council is giving you face by not putting advisories to remove the plants since nobody has complained, even though they have regular inspections around the neighbourhood to deter illegal planting.

"Your mulberry trees are so tall and nice, but I suggest you prune them.

"As for your signs, I advise you to remove the CCTV one since it's irritating and an eyesore.

"Are you scared of people plucking your leaves and fruits? Well, let me tell you that maybe you should appreciate them. You might be waiting for years for no fruit.

"Tips for you: trim, pluck and prune. The more you trim, pluck and prune, the more fruit there will be.

"So what's wrong if you have members of the public trimming your trees for you?

"Next, are you scared of people stealing your berries? Well, if there are any thieves, they are not human. The culprit is a black-naped oriole, a yellow bird with black stripes on its body.

"Why? Because before your fruits ripen or turn black, they are sour and nobody would like them. Needless to say, the culprit are birds who come and eat the fruits at first light before you wake up.

"So hmmm... Want fruits? Prune. Moreover, the trees are so tall, how are you going to harvest leh? Think again..."

The Stomper declined to share the exact location of the trees.

He explained: "The owner might lose their plants so I don't want to disclose too much. I don't want the town council to disturb the beauty."
