# Stomper concerned to see cockroaches at Yishun stall, SFA looking into case

A man expressed his concern after seeing cockroaches crawling around a coffee shop stall at Yishun Ring Road.

According to Stomper Anon, he came across the “food hygiene concern” on Sept 29 at around 5.45pm.

He shared videos showing a cockroach crawling on a half-wall at the stall, as well as on items placed on the wall, next to where staff can be seen preparing food.

“I observed two cockroaches around the stall, which raises concerns about food hygiene and cleanliness,” Anon added.

While Anon did not report the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) directly, he expressed hopes that they would investigate and “take appropriate enforcement action if any food safety violations are found”.

## SFA looking into matter

In response to Stomp’s queries, SFA said on Oct 6 that it is looking into the matter.

As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.

“Food safety is a joint responsibility,” the agency reminded.

SFA said that while it puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.

“Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained,” it added.

Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.
