Stamford Catering suspended until further notice after 51 people who ate its food fell ill
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has suspended the food business operations of Stamford Catering Services in Senoko South Road with effect from Oct 14 until further notice.
This follows three incidents of gastroenteritis affecting 51 people after eating food supplied by the caterer on Oct 12. Those affected either sought outpatient treatment or self-medicated. None were hospitalised.
The Ministry of Health and SFA are investigating.
Stamford Catering posted on its social media: "We were contacted by the authorities, and have been instructed to temporarily suspend operations at our central kitchen.
"Please rest assured that the safety of our customers is our top priority. We have always adhered to stringent food safety protocols to ensure the quality of our catering services.
"We have taken immediate action and are working closely with the local health authorities on this matter. We are committed to ensuring that our kitchen is safe for operation and will provide updates when we have more information."

During the suspension, Stamford Catering is required to comply with measures including cleaning and sanitising of the premises, equipment and utensils.
All food handlers working in the premises are required to re-attend and pass the Food Safety Course Level 1 and test negative for food-borne pathogens, before they can resume work as food handlers.
The appointed food hygiene officer working at the premises must re-attend and pass the Food Safety Course Level 3 before the person can resume work as a food hygiene officer.
On its website, Stamford Catering describes itself as a leading Halal certified caterer with over 20 years of experience.
It said: "We take special care to ensure your event needs are met with our proven track record, having catered for major events such as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, inaugural Youth Olympic Games, StanChart Marathon, OCBC Cycle and many more."
