Queenstown resident turns common space into personal chillax area, gets advisory notice
Creative use of space or simply inconsiderate?
That was the question posted by Stomper Tom, who came across a unit at Block 83 Strathmore Avenue with its own personal chillax area.
He shared photos showing the unusual setup along the corridor.
One side had a table, a bench, chairs and cardboard boxes atop wooden decking. The other side had a shoe cabinet and potted plants sitting on racks, also with the same wooden decking below.
Tom said: "Not sure if it's a genius move by the homeowner to utilise the space in the corridor or if it is plain selfish and unfair to others living in the same block. Their neighbours pay for the same living area, but cannot utilise the common spaces.
"It it also a potential fire hazard, with the dining table and chairs blocking access to the panels."
In response to a Stomp query, Tanjong Pagar Town Council said it is aware of the case.
Advisory notices have been served to the resident to remove the items whose placement does not comply with fire safety regulations.
"We are also working closely with the grassroots leaders to engage the resident to see how we can help him," the town council added.
