# Mum trims daughter’s fingernails on MRT: ‘Extremely frustrating to see people littering’

Though commuters have, on occasion, been seen grooming themselves on public transport, the phenomenon still continues to unsettle other commuters.

Stomper Ms Victoria was particularly disturbed by the sight of a mother trimming her daughter’s fingernails on an East-West Line MRT on Oct 24.

She spotted the pair sometime between 4.15pm and 4.25pm, in what looked to be a fairly crowded train.

## ‘Very inconsiderate’

According to Ms Victoria, the mother, who had a young child on her lap, was trimming the child’s fingernails on the MRT.

The Stomper claimed: “She intentionally threw the bits of fingernail on the floor and swept them away with her feet.”

A video shared with Stomp shows the mother using a nail clipper to trim her daughter’s fingernails, though the other actions are not seen.

Other commuters, including the ones sitting next to them, did not appear to notice.

Ms Victoria told Stomp that while there were commuters casting glances at the mother-daughter pair, nobody approached them.

“It is extremely frustrating to see people littering inside public transport,” she expressed.

“Hygiene should be a top priority for all daily commuters.”

The Stomper added: “Public transport is a shared space, and I hope bringing attention to this issue prompts the authority to step up enforcement and impose heavier fines on these inconsiderate individuals before it gets out of hand.”
