Always check your receipt.

A man was baffled to be billed $6 for ikan bilis and did some fishing - and it's lucky that he did. It turned out he had been erroneously charged.

Facebook user Mohammed Fauzi Mokhtar shared his experience at Hjh Maimunah Mini Tampines Mall on Nov 18.

He had purchased a rice set consisting of sambal beef, egg, and sambal potato with ikan bilis for $7.50. He had also ordered $5 lontong, topped up with tempeh ikan bilis.

The top-up was $6, meaning the dish cost $11 in total.

Fauzi wrote in his post: "I was like, wow seriously the lontong cost more than the rice set? (The) total bill was $19 (with takeaway container)."

He also noted that the tempeh ikan bilis was just a side dish and not an ala-carte order.

Being "very curious", Fauzi contacted the food court stall. He was told to send photos of his food and receipt so that staff could check.

It turned out that there had been a mistake and Fauzi should have been charged $1.50 instead of $6.

However, he still has to wait till Nov 21 for his money back as the company's finance department only does refunds on Thursdays.
