Man eyes Hougang resident's plant longingly, returns with plastic bag for his 'soilmate'
The police are investigating a case in which a man was caught on camera taking a woman's potted plant from her doorstep in Hougang.
Stomper Michelle said the incident occurred at Block 427 Hougang Avenue 6 on Feb 5.
CCTV footage shows the man eyeing her potted plant and returning shortly after in a face mask and with a red plastic bag.
The man is seen picking up the plant, placing it in the plastic bag and then walking away with his loot.
Michelle told Stomp: "At 4.29pm, the uncle walked past while eyeing my plants. Three minutes later at 4.32pm, he wore a face mask and took out a red plastic bag to steal my plant, acting like he just bought it.
"This is the first time something like this has happened and I do not recognise him. I wonder why he did not steal my neighbour's plants and only mine. Most of the units here have CCTV cameras installed."
The Stomper lodged a police report on the same day.
She added: "Seriously, stealing is wrong no matter how old you are. I hope my plant is still well and can be returned to me if possible."
In response to a Stomp query, the police confirm that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
