Man arrested after allegedly slashing another in hands and legs with chopper at Jalan Bukit Merah

A man, 28, was arrested for allegedly slashing another man, 27, in the hands and legs with a chopper at Jalan Bukit Merah on Thursday (July 14), said police.

The police had responded to multiple calls of a fight at 4pm. A blood trail was seen at Block 116 Jalan Bukit Merah.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men were involved in a dispute. The victim was taken conscious to the hospital.

The suspect was arrested at the scene.

He is to be charged in court on Friday (July 15) for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 15 years, and shall be liable to a fine or caning.

Jalan Bukit Merah was also the scene of a recent slashing incident where a 75-year-old man was taken to hospital after sustaining injuries to the head.
