Man, 70, allegedly used hammer to threaten woman and bang her door over money she owed
A 70-year-old man was charged on Jan 27 with criminal intimidation after he allegedly threatened a woman and hammered her door.
The police said they received a call for assistance at Block 5 St George's Lane on Jan 26, at about 4.05pm.
The caller informed the police that a man was outside her house, knocking on the gate and hacking the door.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division arrested the man within four hours of the report. A hammer was seized as a case exhibit.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the man alleged that the caller had owed him money and had been avoiding his calls," police added.
He purportedly used the hammer to threaten the caller and bang her door, causing damages.
Ho See Kum has been charged with one count of criminal intimidation and one charge under the Misuse of Drugs Act, reported The Straits Times.
He will return to court on Feb 24, after the prosecution asked for more time to complete its investigations.
Ho had also allegedly been found in possession of methamphetamine on Oct 12, 2024, in a room at New Cathay Hotel. This comes after an earlier drug possession charge on July 30, 2019, in which he was sentenced to two years' jail.
