Man, 50, arrested after attacking victim and taking bag containing $300 cash at Robinson Road
A 50-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
The police said in a statement that they were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt along Robinson Road on March 9 at about 12.35pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 33-year-old male victim was allegedly assaulted by the man.
A bag containing cash amounting to $300 was allegedly taken away from him. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Through further investigation, officers from the Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within eight hours of the report.
Cash amounting to $172 and the bag were recovered.
The man will be charged in court with the offence of robbery with hurt which carries a jail term between five and 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
The police said they will not tolerate such "brazen acts of crime" and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the police as soon as possible.
