K.F Seetoh wrote in his March 27 Facebook post: "Finally, in Lucca, Italy, and now allowed to retrieve my brother's remains for home, after three months. It how the Italian system is."
He said investigations on the cause of the explosion is still ongoing "but we need some closure for now".
The veteran food critic added: "I had always wondered what was the charm of this little hometown of operatic composer Puccini, that made this place his retirement abode. It certainly was not opera. I realise it was the food and friends, not really the mountains and hills nor old buildings us his lovely little farm cottage house that fell.like a deck of cards from the blast.
"I just wanna walk a mile In his shoes these few days and take in a whiff what he felt over his last six years in Molazzana, just beside Lucca. I will share a slice of his lifestyle here when I settle in for the processes to repatriate him home."
K.F Seetoh said the funeral will be held in Italy, followed by a memorial in Singapore on April 7 and 8.
