Lorry catches fire in KPE tunnel at Upper Paya Lebar Road exit
A lorry caught fire in the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) tunnel towards the Tampines Expressway (TPE) at the Upper Paya Lebar Road exit on Tuesday afternoon (Oct 8).
Stomper Aish alerted Stomp to the incident after he received a photo from his friend of signs saying the tunnel was closed due to a fire.
A video posted on Lao Peh Road SG's Facebook page showed a lorry engulfed in flames.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Twitter at about 1.30pm that the Upper Paya Lebar Road exit was closed due to the fire.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it responded to the vehicle fire at about 1.30pm.
The SCDF extinguished the fire, which involved the engine compartment of a lorry, using a hose reel, an SCDF spokesman said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
