# ‘It was a close shave’: S’porean driver relieved after avoiding loose tyre rolling on Johor road

A normal trip to neighbouring Johor turned into a horrifying close shave with an accident after a loose tyre that came off a truck nearly hit a Singaporean driver’s car.

Stomper Mr Lim was on the way to Sutera Mall in Johor Bahru recently when the incident occurred.

Dashcam footage shared with Stomp shows his vehicle filtering into the leftmost lane, about to turn into Taman Sutera, when a tyre rolls into view to the right, at relatively high speed.

Lim told Stomp: “I was driving along the Skudai Highway in Johor when I noticed something unusual out of the corner of my eye. To my horror, it was a huge tyre that came off a truck.”

He added that the tyre came as close as 50cm away from his car. “Luckily, I managed to avoid it in time!” exclaimed the Stomper.

After passing Lim’s vehicle, the tyre rams into the back of a lorry in its path and bounces off to the right.

According to him, it hit the road divider and landed there. The truck it purportedly came from also stopped on the road. Thankfully, no accident occurred as a result of the loose tyre.

Reflecting on the incident, a relieved Lim said: “I was totally shocked. It was a close shave. Luckily, there was the slip road to turn out, otherwise my car would have been hit.”
