Furniture store owes thousands in refunds to customers, TikTok videos and police reports made
After failing to deliver orders to its customers, a furniture store now owes thousands of dollars in refunds.
One of them is Stomper Wany, who says he is owed $3,197 by the store, The Simple Furniture.
He shared a TikTok video on Aug 4 about waiting six months for his refund.
He told Stomp: "Basically, this company has many police reports against them for not fulfilling orders. They also owe a lot of money to customers as they kept saying they would refund us, but most customers have not gotten their refunds.
"Customers have filed reports with the police as well as to the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case), but nothing has been done.
"When we demanded our refunds, the owners claimed we were harassing them."
Another customer also posted a TikTok video on Aug 5 about the store owing her $3,197. In the video, she shared the police report she made on June 23.
In response to a Stomp query, Case president Melvin Yong said that the association received 36 complaints against The Simple Furniture from Jan 1 to Aug 28.
"In general, the complainants reported that they did not receive their orders for their furniture items and had made payment upfront," said Mr Yong.
"Case is assisting affected consumers."
Stomp reached out to The Simple Furniture for a response, and a spokesperson said: "We are in communication with all our customers with regards to the current situation we are facing. We are a very small company and we are currently doing our best to resolve the matter.
"It has been a very tough few months with multiple harassments. We have made multiple police reports and a lot of false accusations were made against us.
"We are doing everything that's advised by our lawyers. We are taking full responsibility of the current situation."
Regarding the Stomper, the spokesperson said: "We have already worked out a repayment plan with the customer, and police reports have been made on the video."
Asked about the repayment plan, the Stomper acknowledged that it's true "to a certain extent".
He shared the repayment plan proposed by the store, which is a series of eight payments from Oct 12, 2025, to May 12, 2026. He rejected it.

The Stomper said he was unhappy, as he felt it was possibly another delaying tactic.
"As for the police reports, the police didn't reach out to any of the video owners to take them down," he added.
He also said other customers had reached out to share how much they were owed, estimating that The Simple Furniture's total debt could come up to about $16,000.
"As far as I know, all of their customers whom I'm in touch with have filed a claim with Small Claims Tribunals," he added.
The Simple Furniture had a showroom in Woodlands, but on Aug 8, the store announced that it was "operating 100 per cent online".
On Google, The Simple Furniture is currently listed as "permanently closed".
