Firefighters were called to Beauty World Plaza on the night of May 15, causing some alarm among passers-by in the area.

Stomper Raven shared a video and photos of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles outside an entrance to the Beauty World MRT station on the Downtown line.

"A Red Rhino was seen on the road. The firefighting crew dismounted and walked towards the taxi stand. Later, the two fire engines arrived," recounted the Stomper.

"A few groups of people at the Beauty World MRT station exit were shocked, looking around and did not see any smoke or smelled anything unusual."

The Stomper said he overheard some people saying there was no fire.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it received a call for assistance at 140 Upper Bukit Timah Road at about 9:35pm.

"SCDF's assistance was not required," added SCDF.

The Stomper said SCDF left the area at about 10pm.

According to its annual statistics, SCDF responded to 246,832 emergency calls in 2023 and 6,285 or 2.6 per cent were false alarms.
