A 76-year-old woman has appealed for a lift to be built on a pedestrian overhead bridge in Jurong East.

Stomper Susie frequents the area as the bridge is located near Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre.

"This overhead bridge near Jurong Town Hall needs a lift urgently because many people have difficulty walking on this bridge," Susie said.

"Many people and seniors need to climb the bridge's steps daily.

"The bridge is three stories high and I experience great difficulty and pain in my legs climbing the flight of steps, especially when I'm carrying my marketing things in plastic bags and my trolley."

Susie added that it is the only bridge she can use to reach the bus stop for her journey home.

In response to a Stomp query, the Land Transport Authority said: "The pedestrian overhead bridge in front of Block 253 Jurong East Street 24 has been identified for lifts to be retrofitted.

"We are currently conducting feasibility and engineering studies and will share more details when ready."

Susie told Stomp: "Thanks for looking into the matter to cater to the mobility needs of the community."
