Dead rat and live spider delivered to flats in Yishun, 22-year-old man arrested

A dead rat and a live spider were left on the doorsteps of two residential units in Yishun.

A flat at Yishun Ring Road was gifted a parcel containing a debtor's note, a dead rat, joss sticks and hell money notes on March 13.

Another unit at Yishun Street 71 was delivered a parcel also containing a debtor's note with a live spider on March 18.

The police were alerted and through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of a 22-year-old man and arrested him on March 24.

He was charged in court on March 26 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, an imprisonment term of up to five years, and up to six strokes of the cane.
