Cyclists without helmets tailgate truck on West Coast Highway
A group of cyclists were seen tailgating a trailer truck on the West Coast Highway in Singapore.
Stomper Lee alerted Stomp to a video of the incident which was posted on Singapore roads accident.com's Facebook page on Jan 18.
The post did not indicate when the footage was taken.
In the video, five cyclists are seen riding just behind the truck.
Another three cyclists are observed riding in the left-most lane next to the large vehicle.
None of the cyclists appear to be wearing helmets.
Netizens commented on how the riders were putting themselves in danger.
"That's the shortcut to heaven," wrote one Facebook user.
"All in [the] driver's blind spot," said another. "One lane change or brake, all pins will fall."
One netizen said the youths in the video are frequently spotted riding on the highway on Friday and Saturday nights.
In December last year, Stomp reported on a similar incident involving youths cycling without helmets along the West Coast Highway.
One drafted dangerously close to the back of a tanker truck.
Those caught riding bicycles and power-assisted bicycles on roads without wearing a helmet can be fined up to $1,000 and/or jailed up to three months upon conviction for the first offence.
