A disagreement over a $50 additional fee escalated into a heated online exchange after a cat owner gave a grooming salon a one-star review.

Stomper Anonymous told Stomp she booked an appointment to get her cat a lion cut for $88 at Furries Inc in Clementi on Nov 21 at 9am.

She paid the extra $50 to the salon after she was told that her cat Gemok was 'fierce' and difficult to handle during grooming.

However, she said she asked for video proof because she wanted to understand why the surcharge was applied.

"I don't mind paying extra, but I just needed a clear video showing my cat being fierce," she said. "After seeing the video, I don't see anything fierce."

She added that while the groomers said Gemok scratched and bit them, she does not believe the footage shows such behaviour.

She also said she was uncomfortable with how her cat was pinned down on the table.

After the appointment, the Stomper left a one-star review on Google describing her experience.

She told Stomp that the salon owner subsequently posted screenshots of their WhatsApp conversation online, called her vulgarities, including 'bitch' and exposed her profile picture.

She said the post was later taken down and reposted with certain parts cropped out.

"Looking at their past reviews, they seem easily triggered and cannot accept negative comments," the Stomper said.

"Pet owners need to beware of such aggressive behaviour, especially coming from a groomer.

"I have been with them since they were at Jurong... I never thought it would end up like this."

Stomper Blurrylines, who came across the posts on Furries Inc's Facebook page, told Stomp: "It is shocking how unprofessional the company is.

"Many people confronted the owner on FB and said that reply was not professional and the owner was extremely defensive."

In response to a Stomp query, the owner of Furries Inc admitted she became angry after seeing the one-star review.

"Yes, that's right," she said. "I was very mad when she went the extra mile, giving a negative review.

"I called her 'bitch' because she deserved it."

The owner said the Stomper had been informed in advance about the extra fees.

"The owner inquired last September and we immediately gave her the extra fees aside from the grooming packages," she shared.

"We do not have hidden charges.

"She is just the very stingy type and likes to vent her frustrations online so I gave her a dose of her own medicine."

She also insisted that Gemok had scratched her groomers and was indeed difficult to handle.

"My groomers got scratches but she still insists her cat was not fierce," she said. "And she expects us to apologise? For what?

"She's supposed to be the one apologising for her cat's behaviour. It clearly shows she doesn't take care of her cat because she doesn't even know her cat has an ear mites infection."

The salon owner, who said she has been in the grooming industry since 2016, added that she has met 'all kinds' of people and personalities.

"I don't tolerate people like that," she said. "I work hard, I run an honest business, and I protect my team.

"I don't lose sleep over calling out this kind of attitude.

"I may not always spit vulgarities, but trust me, when someone truly deserves a verbal slap, I'm capable of delivering it. And in this case, she earned every bit of it."

She told Stomp she is 'not afraid' to lose a customer whom she described as a 'walking headache'.

"I have thousands of loyal customers who trust my services because I'm not just a groomer, I'm a veterinarian," she said. "I know exactly what I'm advising, I know animal behavior, and I know when a pet is aggressive because of the owner's neglect.

"So no, I'm not worried about losing one bad client. If anything, removing toxic customers only makes more space for the good and responsible ones.

"Quality over quantity, always."
