# Caterer fined $1,200 for MindChamps Preschools gastroenteritis outbreak involving 107 people

Nosh Cuisine was fined $1,200 on Oct 16 for a food safety lapse related to the 2023 MindChamps Preschools gastroenteritis outbreak involving 107 people.

Between May 22 and 29, 2023, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) received reports of the outbreak at eight Mindchamps Preschools, which was traced to food supplied by Nosh Cuisine.

Eight people who were hospitalised have since been discharged. The rest had either sought outpatient treatment, self-medicated, or recovered without treatment.

SFA and MOH officers conducted a joint inspection at Nosh Cuisine's premises at 171 Kampong Ampat and found that the company failed to keep its premises clean.

SFA suspended the food business operations of Nosh Cuisine on May 30, 2023 and lifted the suspension on July 27, 2023.

In a separate case, licensed food importer Jiajiafu Trading was fined $2,000 on Oct 16 for processing and repacking food products on unlicensed premises at 1813 Geylang Bahru.

This follows an inspection of the premises by SFA officers on March 15.

Approximately 280kg of food products were seized, including sliced chilli and pre-packed dried food products.
