He was not boarding but had alighted.

The bus service 858 captain spoke impolitely to the wheelchair user, leading to an argument which held up the bus at Gambas Avenue on July 27, said Tower Transit.

Two videos of the argument were posted on TikTok.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Tower Transit Singapore (TTS) said: "Our investigation found that the bus captain spoke impolitely to the wheelchair user while assisting him to alight from the bus.

"After alighting, the wheelchair user used his legs to prevent the rear doors from closing and the bus from moving off."

In one of the videos, several passengers can be seen alighting the bus by squeezing past the wheelchair at the rear door.

Tower Transit called the police, said the spokesperson.

He added: "The bus captain’s conduct fell short of TTS’ customer service and inclusivity standards.

"He will be counselled."
