Boy dashes across road while red man is showing and gets hit by taxi at Yio Chu Kang Rd, police investigating
A boy was hit by a taxi after running across a pedestrian crossing while the red man was showing.
A Stomper alerted Stomp to a video of the incident that happened at the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Hougang Avenue 8 on July 29 at about 8.10pm.
The video posted on SGRV's Facebook page shows the boy dashing across the road before getting knocked down by an oncoming ComfortDelGro taxi. He quickly gets back up and gathers his belongings.
A voice is heard exclaiming: "Oh my god! How can he rush through like that?"
From the caption, the person who contributed the video said: "Video evidence to aid taxi driver. Boy just rushed to cross the road when it is not in his favour. No way taxi can brake in time. Ah boy should count his lucky stars to be able to get back up and walk across the road."
In response to a Stomp query, ComfortDelGro said its taxi team will be reaching out to the pedestrian to offer assistance and support.
"We are also extending support to our cabby, who was affected by the incident and whose vehicle sustained damage," a spokesperson said.
"A police report has been filed, and we are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation."
The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
