# Another man spotted sleeping and charging phone ‘every day’ at Chagee Jurong Point for almost 3 months

A delivery rider who visits Jurong Point frequently is worried about a man he has observed sleeping ‘every day’ at a tea store there.

Stomper JV reported seeing a man sleeping and charging his mobile phone at Chagee’s 24-hour outlet at Jurong Point daily for “almost three months”.

According to him, the man, who is usually alone, typically rests in the same seat throughout the day. Though JV is unsure if Chagee staff have interacted with the man, he himself has not done so.

The delivery rider added that he has not reported his concern to any social agency.

“Every day this guy will sleep there, seems like he has no home,” JV speculated.

“Sleeping there, charging his handphone using Chagee free electricity,” added the rider.

JV shared three photos of the man taken on Oct 26 and Oct 27 — within a span of 17 hours — in which the man was clad in the same orange top.

The Stomper noted that he had seen the man sitting next to an elderly man with a trolley, who sparked similar concerns when a shopper reported seeing him there daily since the tea store opened.

Following Stomp’s report, a family member explained that the man with a trolley had gotten into a dispute with his co-tenant before he started spending time at the outlet.

The elderly man has since returned to living in a nursing home.

When asked why he shared his observations with Stomp, JV said: “I worry about him (and) why he (doesn’t) have a proper place to rest.”

While the man’s circumstances are unclear, members of the public who encounter a rough sleeper can:

- Contact the Partners Engaging and Empowering Rough Sleepers (PEERS) Network Office at MSF_PEERSOffice@msf.gov.sg;
- Call the ComCare hotline at 1800-222-0000; or
- Submit a request via the Help Neighbour feature on the OneService app.

They can also befriend and engage the rough sleeper to understand their circumstances and ask whether they are open to assistance, such as a referral to apply for financial assistance or to work with a social worker on their concerns.

Stomp has reached out to Chagee for comment.
