# ‘I really love children’: Woman, 36, has 7 kids with 4 men she dated, here’s the TL;DR of her life story

A 36-year-old woman with seven children was dubbed “Singapore’s most fertile woman” when she appeared on a podcast by local media channel Popping SG, as she opened up about how she navigated the ups and downs of motherhood.

Pearlyn, the mother of seven, spoke to podcast hosts Ken and Torres in an interview posted on Popping SG’s YouTube channel on Oct 30.

From getting pregnant at 17 to working in nightlife to support her children, Pearlyn recounted how her relationships with four men shaped her life.

Here’s the TL;DR of her life story.

## ‘I had a mother’s instinct’: Woman wanted first child at 17

Pearlyn was just 17 when she got pregnant with her first child. When asked if it was an accident, she explained that it was “on purpose”.

“Since young, I had a mother’s instinct. I really love children,” she says.

She had dropped out of school and was not staying with her parents, admitting that the lack of guidance meant she “(didn’t) know what’s right or what’s wrong”.

She met her first partner on the now-defunct social networking site Friendster, and the pair got together about four or five months after their first interaction, having met up two or three times.

Her first child, now a teenager, is currently in prison. She adds that her son was taken care of by his father’s family, where he “(didn’t) have proper guidance” and “ended up doing a lot of bad things”.

She plans to let him stay with her when he is released in November.

## Married ‘sweet talker’ after giving birth to second child

At 20, Pearlyn met her second partner while studying at a private school. Describing him as a “sweet-talker”, she says she was attracted to his personality rather than his looks.

She married him after giving birth to their second son, and they later had a daughter.

However, she claims that he cheated on her and was not actively involved in raising their children.

Although she suffered from postnatal depression after her second child, she felt there was still love between them and tried to tolerate his behaviour.

But his alleged drug use and involvement with another woman eventually became the last straw. The couple divorced about a year after their daughter was born.

Pearlyn recalls that her ex-husband gave her just $10 a day, which was insufficient to support herself and the children.

“I told him, ‘No, I cannot take it.’ I said, ‘I need to go and work.’ So that’s when I started to go out and work in a club to survive,” she says.

She said she spent the next 10 years working in nightlife, bringing her children to school before resting during the day and heading to work from 9pm to about 3am or 4am.

She also recounts having to drink until she vomited on some nights.

## Had 2 children with third partner

While working at a nightclub, Pearlyn met her third partner, who was a customer at the establishment.

He was there for a company drinking session but appeared quiet and isolated from his colleagues. She approached him to ask why he was so quiet and later gave him a love bite.

The pair exchanged numbers that night, and he returned to the nightclub the following day.

Three or four months into their relationship, they decided to try for a child. Pearlyn eventually had a son and a daughter with him.

When asked why she wanted to have children with him, she explains: “Because I feel like, I really love you. You know, like ‘I want to have something with you.’”

She also says that she was drawn to him because he accepted her existing children.

However, she describes the man as a “mama’s boy” who would turn to his mother for advice when the couple had disagreements.

She also alleges that the man would hit her son from her second marriage, which was where she drew the line.

“I don’t want my children to grow up like this, so I told myself no, I cannot allow my children to go through this,” she says.

## Met fourth partner at pub

Pearlyn later met her fourth partner at a pub.

She says he was an army regular whom she “never expected” to fall in love with.

A week or two after their first meeting, they started texting each other and she felt a strong “telepathy” with him. She even spontaneously booked a flight to Thailand to visit him.

They married in 2022, and had a son and daughter together.

Three months after giving birth to her seventh child, she got pregnant once again — but terminated the pregnancy after seeking medical advice.

## Supporting family despite mounting debts

However, supporting a family of six proved challenging.

Pearlyn suggested that her husband leave the military because he was not spending enough time with their children. He eventually did so.

The couple then took on Shopee deliveries daily to make ends meet.

At the time, Pearlyn’s husband was also required to pay around $1,500 in maintenance to his ex-wife each month.

To make matters worse, he lost about $7,000 to someone Pearlyn met through a Facebook advertisement, believing that he was a debt repayment scheme adviser. The person turned out to be a scammer.

He was subsequently declared bankrupt, after accumulating about $70,000 in debt.

Now, Pearlyn works as a private-hire driver for 12 hours a day, and earns around $3,000 a month. Her husband earns $300 to $700 a month through part-time work.

After spending the better part of the past two decades raising her children, Pearlyn hopes to take a break from the routine. She has even urged her children not to rush into having children of their own.

“I told my children, please, don’t so fast give me be Ah Ma and Ah Gong. I said, I take care of you all. Seventeen years, give birth pregnant, give birth pregnant. I want to rest,” Pearlyn adds.
