More than 100 construction workers at Block 356 Admiralty Drive enjoyed a special lunch on Sept 20, thanks to a Sembawang resident who wanted to show his appreciation.

Stomper Anonymous, who was with his friends for their usual Saturday basketball session, told Stomp he was pleasantly surprised to witness the act of kindness.

"At first we thought it was Mr Satya's birthday celebration, but he said no," shared the Stomper.

The kind resident told the Stomper: "Because they work so hard to build our city, a meal is the least I can do to show appreciation. They spend long hours in tough conditions. Offering them food is a small way to show kindness and respect."

The Stomper described it as a true Good Samaritan moment that made a big difference to the workers' day.

Mr Satya, who has lived in the estate for several years, told Stomp he wanted to show appreciation to the workers installing solar panels in the neighbourhood.

"They are the ones building our homes and communities, and providing them a meal is a small way to thank them," he said.

"They work very hard under the hot sun every day and I just wanted to show some care and appreciation for their effort.

"It strengthens our community, and it's not just about food, it's about dignity, respect and reminding the workers that their efforts are valued."

He added that the meals were vegetarian packed lunches, ordered in bulk.
