A little kindness goes a long way, and one off-duty bus captain proved just that when he stepped up to help an elderly passenger board a bus.

Stomper Lyy witnessed the heartwarming act on Feb 4 at about 2.45pm.

The incident took place on SBS Transit service 963, at the National University Hospital (NUH) bus stop.

Lyy shared with Stomp that an elderly passenger on a mobility scooter was waiting to board the bus when the on-duty bus captain prepared to assist.

However, before he could do so, an off-duty bus captain -- who was also on board -- insisted on helping instead.

"He also assisted in putting down the ramp for the passenger to board the bus," she said.

"I just thought that even a small act of kindness deserves praise.

"I would like to send my compliments to this bus captain."

While it may have been a simple gesture, acts like these make a difference in someone's day.
